Skills Class - Sauces

Join our experienced instructor, Fiona McBeath, for a fun evening learning how to make a variety of sauces from scratch. From a basic roux and home-made gravy to bechamel and hollandaise, we'll help you learn all you need to know to recreate perfect sauces at home.

Working ‘hands on’ in our purpose-built kitchen, you'll be preparing your sauces, sampling as you go. Sauces may include:

  • Bechamel - the perfect base for a variety of both sweet and savoury sauces 
  • Proper home-made gravy
  • Delicious hollandaise
  • Rich red-wine reduction
  • Velvety creme Anglaise/custard

All ingredients are provided along with recipe sheets to take away at the end of the session.

We'll provide an apron for you to work in but if you'd prefer to have your very own, high-quality, embroidered YORK Cookery School apron, they are available to buy. Simply add one to your order and we can post it to you of just give it to you when you come to the class.

This class is suitable for all skill levels.
