Learn how to prepare and cook a selection of fabulous Mexican dishes, with our wonderful chef/tutor, Jen Morrison.

Immerse yourself in this wonderful cuisine, looking at and tasting typical ingredients used in Mexican cuisine, whilst your instructor will tell you all about the background and history of this cuisine.

Working ‘hands on’ in our purpose-built kitchen, you'll be preparing and cooking your dishes, sampling as you go.

All ingredients are provided along with recipe sheets to take away at the end of the session.

Examples of dishes that may be prepared include:

  • Potato, serrano chilli and cheese empanada
  • Oaxacan-style spiced pumpkin and cheese tamales
  • Ancho beef tamales
  • Grilled corn and cactus tacos with avocado cream
  • Lamb barbacoa tacos
  • Yucatec-style pork in achiote with grilled plantain
  • Chiles rellenos: cheese filled and battered poblanos in mole rojo
  • Huevos rancheros (usually for brekkie but great family-friendly main)
  • Squash & quinoa with black beans and epazote

We'll provide an apron for you to work in but if you'd prefer to have your very own, high-quality, embroidered YORK Cookery School apron, they are available to buy. Simply add one to your order and we can post it to you of just give it to you when you come to the class.
