Get ready for Christmas (3 evenings)

Let us help you get ready for Christmas with a series of evening workshops designed to give you all the skills you need to create some fabulous food for the festive period.

Over three evening sessions, our expert instructors, Fiona McBeath and Kate Clarkson will help you to create a range of mouth-watering dishes including a rich Christmas pudding and delicious canapés as well as tempting sauces and accompaniments to grace any Christmas get together.

  • Week one (8th November) - working with Kate, you’ll create your own indulgent Christmas pudding to take away with you as well as a home-made mincemeat, packed with loads of seasonal dried fruits. Kate will also show you how to make a delicious rum sauce and velvety brandy butter. At the end of the session, Kate will have put together a selection of the dishes for you to try.
  • Week two (15th November) - working with both Kate and Fiona, you’ll have the opportunity to make your own scrumptious sausage meat stuffing, prepare some sweet, braised red cabbage and tempting bread sauce. They will also show you how to make a rich gravy and tangy cranberry sauce. Once again, there will be a selection of the dishes for you to sample at the end of the session.
  • Week three (22nd November) - working with Fiona, you will learn how to put together some canapé classics including a delicious home-made chicken liver pate and sweet, sticky chilli mini sausages. These are perfect for your Christmas soirees and a great way to impress your friends.

Many of these dishes can be frozen so they're ideal to make ahead of the big day, saving you time when you need it most.

At the end of the final session, we invite you to ask your family along for the last half hour of the session for a mini get-together so they can enjoy your canapés along with a glass of mulled wine.

The price is for all three sessions and includes all ingredients and recipes.

We'll provide an apron for you to work in but if you'd prefer to have your very own, high-quality, embroidered YORK Cookery School apron, they are available to buy. Simply add one to your order and we can post it to you of just give it to you when you come to the class.
